Kristin & Shane: Engaged

Kristin & Shane are awesome. When I shot their engagement session in Fredericksburg a couple of weeks ago, they made 2 and a half hours seem like 15 minutes, mostly because we just walked around the historic old town, talked about football, random movie trivia and cracked jokes. I also took an occasional photo here and there. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in October – I can already tell you that it’s going to be pretty awesome too. I’m also doing something a bit different with my post length for this one. Instead of putting up a huge amount of photos, I bet I can show you just a couple and you’ll still be able to see how much fun we had

Kathy & Matt’s Sample Album

I’ve been meaning to write about my sample albums for a while, so I think it’s about time I show you some of the awesomeness. This album isn’t your typical flush mount, it’s stylish and elegant in a very understated manner. The pages are matte and really let the colors in the photos come through brilliantly. They’re also relatively thin, so I can accommodate many more pages. That’s one of the great advantages of this album, since I aim to tell stories with my photos, sometimes my albums end up with 30 or 40 spreads, or 60 to 80 pages, so these albums are designed to showcase that.

Marcella & Eric’s Engagement at Barrel Oak Winery

I first met Eric and Marcella back in February and have been looking forward to their wedding, which is coming up in less than a month, since then. It’s not surprising then, when I mentioned a winery that was over an hour’s drive from both of us for our engagement shoot, they jumped at the chance. Now, I chose the Barrel Oak Winery partly due to its location in the gorgeous rolling hills of the eastern side of the Blue Ridge Mountains, but also because both Marcella and Eric are huge foodies and love wine, so I really couldn’t pass up an opportunity to relax and enjoy some beautiful views (and wine!) with two awesome people.

Of course, that wasn’t quite awesome enough, so when we got to the winery, we found out that the Fauquier County SPCA was holding a ‘Paws for the Cause’ benefit AND a Frisbee catching demonstration with some World Champion dogs.

After 2 hours of delicious Sangria, some awesome dogs and gorgeous scenery at the winery, we made our way to gorgeous Sky Meadows Park to cap off an amazing session. I had an awesome time and cannot wait to shoot their wedding at the historic Vandiver Inn in Havre de Grace, Maryland.

Cendy & Guillermo

I have been looking forward to photographing the wedding of Cendy & Guillermo ever since I photographed their engagement back in April – they have such a wonderful chemistry together and their love for each other was evident every time I saw them exchange even a quick glance. This past weekend, I finally had a chance to get together with Terra Dawn to photograph them as they exchanged their vows in a beautiful Catholic ceremony at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Springfield, Virginia, followed by beautifully lit and decorated reception at the Crystal City Hyatt.

Being that Guillermo is a Marine, I found the garter quite fitting for the occasion and found the perfect way to show the rings

Piper & James

Now here’s something new. I recently had a chance to collaborate with fellow photographer Jenny Lewis (she’s awesome – check her out! ) on a vintage 1920′s inspired engagement shoot with Piper & James. I had no idea how inspired it was until we met. When I saw Piper take out rope and a shovel from the trunk of their car, not to mention James sporting one very impressive looking mustache and a gold pocket watch, I knew they were game for anything. I loved that they would suggest poses and ideas just as often as I would, and really were amazing to work with in every respect. Thanks again, guys. You were great!

A Steamy Engagement in the City.

When Avni contacted me to photograph her engagement session a couple of weeks ago, I immediately jumped at the chance and had been looking forward to it mostly because it was a chance to wander around some of the most photogenic places in Washington, D.C., including the Georgetown waterfront and the National Mall with an amazing couple. They really were true great sports. Even though the temperatures were up near 100 degrees on the day of our session and the humidity was much closer to what you’d find in a sauna, we still managed to have a great time.

I have been looking forward to this wedding ever since I met Kathy & Matt just over a month ago. Both Kathy & Matt are some of the most laid back and down to earth people you’ll ever meet, yet you can tell at first glance just how deep they love each other – needless to say getting them to show emotion during their engagement session (which you can see in my blog) was no trouble at all

Their wedding was held at The Natural Bridge near Lexington, Virginia. In spite of the potential rainy and stormy weather, we managed to have an entire day of blue skies and sunshine, which I attribute to the sheer awesomeness of Kathy, Matt and both of their respective families. Everything about the day, from the green sketchers being part of the formal attire for the men to Kathy & Matt’s matching dog tags with “I EFFING LUV YOU” written on them to Kathy’s entire family dancing (and how!) to Elton John’s “Crocodile Rock” was simply awesome…

Kathy & Matt: Engaged

Matt & Kathy are simply awesome. I’ve been looking forward to shooting their engagement ever since our initial meeting about a month ago when I noticed that they were wearing matched tags that said “I effing love you.” We started off beneath the Amtrak station in downtown Fredericksburg, then made our way over to the University of Mary Washington campus where we did a little bit of tree hugging and then ventured to Fredericksburg’s beautiful historic downtown area. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves, but I think you can tell we had a good time
